All Blacks great Dan Carter has been tipped to sign a new contract in Japan, with Kobe Kobelco Steelers leading the pack in signing the All Black legend
The former All Blacks revealed a strong desire to bring his family home once his lucrative stint at Racing Metro in France is complete next year. However French newspaper Midi Olympique is reporting that Carter will sign with “a Japanese side” to end his career with a possible 12 – 24 month contract.
Signing with the Jim McKay-coached Steelers would see Carter reunite with Andy Ellis, his longtime halfback partner with both the All Blacks and the Crusaders.
Kobe also have a relationship with Wayne Smith, a former coach with both New Zealand and the Canterbury-based Super Rugby side, and wear playing kit made by Adidas, who have a sponsorship deal with Carter.
Exciting times for Japanese rugby!
